Elementor is not a standalone website system, but a visual editor within WordPress. The two complement each other rather than compete.

Visual design within WordPress

WordPress provides the technical foundation; Elementor adds visual editing for pages, sections and content. The two complement each other rather than compete. This page covers visual implementation with Elementor. Our separate WordPress page describes the complete WordPress system, including hosting, roles and extensions.

Which projects is Elementor suitable for?

Elementor is suitable if you want a bespoke design for your WordPress website without needing to code every change. Landing pages, service pages and portfolios benefit from visual editing. Dynamic content connects design with WordPress posts and content types. Design freedom comes with responsibility: the theme, extensions and hosting must work together, and updates remain an ongoing part of running the website.

Understanding WordPress and Elementor

02 / Elementor

A website built with Elementor consists of several layers: hosting, WordPress, the theme, Elementor, content and extensions. Click the interactive layer diagram to learn what each layer does. This makes it clear why decisions at one level affect all the others.

This perspective matters when running the website later on. A problem may lie with the hosting, theme, Elementor or an extension. We document the chosen components and their roles so that maintenance and troubleshooting remain easy to follow. The diagram is a simplified illustration, not technical documentation of your specific installation.

Try widgets live

03 / Elementor

Heading, text, image, button, gallery, form, icon and spacing: Elementor uses widgets that you drag onto the page. In the demo, you add widgets to a website preview and change their order. This clearly shows how individual building blocks form a page.

The skill lies not in using as many widgets as possible, but in arranging them clearly. We design pages so that visitors find the most important information first. Reusable design rules prevent every page from looking different. The demo does not change a real website; all building blocks remain local examples.

Responsive editing for every device

04 / Elementor

Elementor allows device-specific settings. In the demo, you switch between desktop, tablet and smartphone and adjust the font size, spacing, order, alignment and visibility of a demo element for each view. This shows why mobile presentation is a design task in its own right.

We deliberately check every page on different devices. A setting that looks good on a desktop may be unreadable or inaccessible on a smartphone. Adjustments for different devices are therefore planned rather than automatic. The demo only changes a local example page.

Interactive demo

Theme Builder: design global sections

05 / Elementor

Headers, footers, blog posts, archives and other global sections can be designed centrally. The demo shows a website with these sections; selecting one highlights it and makes it editable. A product page is marked as an optional addition.

Certain Theme Builder features may require Elementor Pro. We clarify in advance which global sections your website needs and which plan is required. Central templates keep the website consistent and make later changes easier. The demo does not change any templates in a real installation.

Interactive demo

Connect dynamic content

06 / Elementor

Dynamic content connects design with WordPress data. The demo shows a data table on the left with a project title, category, image and description; several project cards appear on the right. Changes to the data update all relevant views. The entries are fictional examples, not client projects.

This connection is suitable for services, posts, team members or other recurring content. We plan the fields and their presentation together to keep editing simple. The demo uses only local example data and does not access any WordPress installation.

Interactive demo

Forms with clear feedback

07 / Elementor

A contact form consists of more than fields. In the demo, you build a form with a name, email address, phone number, selection field and message, and see a multi-step view. A confirmation appears after the demo submission. No data is stored or sent.

The Form widget and certain actions may depend on the Elementor plan used. We clarify the features needed in advance and configure submission, storage and notifications accordingly. Clear error messages and reliable delivery are tested before launch.

Use animations purposefully

08 / Elementor

Fade-in, zoom, sideways movement or parallax: Elementor offers many motion options. In the demo, you choose an effect and see it on an example card. No motion is explicitly included as an option. Your device's reduced motion setting is respected.

Motion should support information, not distract from it. Complex animations need to be checked for performance and usability, especially on smartphones. We use motion selectively and leave it out where it explains nothing. The demo only animates a local example element.

Interactive demo

Plugins, maintenance and speed

09 / Elementor

A WordPress website with Elementor consists of several components: WordPress core, the theme, Elementor, Elementor Pro if applicable, other plugins, hosting, images, cache and backups. At the click of a button, the demo checks these areas and displays factual example status messages.

Too many extensions can affect maintenance and speed. Updates and backups remain necessary on an ongoing basis, and the theme, plugins and hosting must work together. The demo does not perform a real check or present invented security issues; it only shows which areas belong in the maintenance plan.

Carefully weigh up benefits and limitations

What the platform can support

  • Visual design within WordPress
  • Many widgets and extensive design freedom
  • Responsive settings and Theme Builder
  • Dynamic content and forms

What we check first

  • WordPress remains the technical foundation with its own requirements
  • Pro features may incur ongoing costs
  • Too many extensions affect maintenance and speed
  • Updates, backups and compatible components remain necessary

WordPress offers considerable visual design freedom, but requires a sound technical foundation. The theme, extensions and hosting must work together. We assess the entire setup, not just the visible design.

Licences, Pro features and maintenance are clearly presented as separate decisions. A low initial cost says little about the overall running of the website. We discuss the actual maintenance tasks and avoid blanket promises about performance.

From a WordPress foundation to a designed Elementor website

  1. 01

    Clarify content and design goals

We clarify the content, design goals and your team's tasks.

  2. 02

Define the WordPress foundation and theme

Hosting, the theme and technical requirements are assessed as the foundation.

  3. 03

    Design pages and global sections

Pages and global sections are built using shared design rules.

  4. 04

Set up forms and dynamic content

Forms and dynamic content are set up according to actual needs.

  5. 05

    Check devices, motion and performance

Device views, motion and loading behaviour are tested together.

  6. 06

Agree on training, maintenance and handover

Clear responsibilities are assigned for updates, backups and future support.

For an existing website, we first review the content, structure and planned changes. To establish a suitable technical foundation, we consider Domain Support and Business email. WordPress and Elementor maintenance is not automatically taken care of when the website is completed. Its scope and responsibilities must be explicitly agreed.

An existing website needs the right next step

For an existing WordPress website with Elementor, design and technical questions should be considered together. The Website analysis helps put things into perspective; a Website improvement focuses on agreed changes. Content, design and technical decisions are not optimised independently.

A shared maintenance workflow helps your team edit pages and global sections consistently. The Website training can support the planned maintenance. For discoverability, we consider SEO search engine optimization and GEO optimisation without guaranteeing rankings or results.

Frequently asked questions about Elementor websites

Is Elementor a standalone website system?

No. Elementor is a visual editor within WordPress. WordPress provides the technical foundation; Elementor adds visual design capabilities. The two complement each other rather than compete.

How does this page differ from the WordPress page?

Our WordPress page covers the complete system: hosting, roles, extensions and operation. This page covers visual implementation within WordPress using Elementor. Both perspectives belong together in a project.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

That depends on the features you want. Theme Builder, certain form actions and other options may require a Pro plan. We clarify in advance which features your website needs and explain the implications openly.

Can I edit pages myself later?

Yes, the designated areas are prepared for you to maintain yourself. During training, we explain how to edit content without compromising the design. Central templates remain protected.

Do lots of plugins slow down the website?

Too many or poorly maintained extensions can affect speed and maintenance. We limit extensions to what is actually needed and assess images, cache and hosting as interrelated factors.

Are animations a problem?

Not in principle. Purposeful motion can explain content. We check complex animations for performance and usability, and respect the reduced motion setting. Where motion explains nothing, we leave it out.

Does Elementor work with every theme?

It generally works with many themes, but the theme, Elementor, other plugins and hosting must work together. We select the components as a coherent foundation and document the decision.

What happens when updates are released?

WordPress core, the theme, Elementor and plugins are updated regularly. We test major updates in a safe environment first. Backups and responsibilities are agreed before handover.

Can I build a shop with Elementor?

Shop pages can be designed with WooCommerce; the sales process itself is planned separately. Our online store creation service covers the fundamentals of shop planning.
